The Camden Fairview Cardinals kept their distance from the Hot Springs Trojans and cruised to a 28-14 win Friday night at Camden High School.
Hot Springs struck first blood with a touchdown in the first quarter, but the Cards defense managed to counter when they returned an interception for a touchdown to tie the game 7-7.
Camden Fairview’s Erik Hall gave the Cardinals a 14-7 lead to take into the halftime break when he rushed for a 10-yard touchdown.
In the second half, the Cardinals jumped out to a 21-7 lead with a touchdown. The Trojans added another in the fourth quarter to cut into the Cards’ lead, 21-14. However, Camden Fairview managed to add an insurance touchdown and establish a 28-14 final score.
The Cardinals manage to win their first conference game at home, and on Senior Night no less. The win over Hot Springs is more subdued compared to the 57-0 beat down from 2018.
Camden Fairview improves to 6-3 on the season with a 5-1 record in conference play. The Cardinals finish up their season next Friday night at Little Rock McClellan.
Hot Springs falls to 4-5 on the year with a 3-3 record in conference play. The Trojans host the Lakeside Rams next Friday to close out their season.
