Coach Jackson was on hand for the contest as his state championship teams were recognized in a pregame ceremony. This year’s team took advantage of the Hornets mistakes to build an early lead in a contest of two teams that were unbeaten in league play coming into the night.

PRESCOTT, Ark. — The Prescott Curly Wolves left no doubt that they are the best team in the 5 AAA Conference in a 60-32 victory over the Harmony Grove Hornets on Friday night at Eddie Jackson Stadium.
The game started well for the Hornets when they covered a fumble on Prescott’s first play from scrimmage. Coach Ernie Horstcamp’s team marched down the field but stalled at the Curly Wolves’ 2 yard line. The home town squad put together a 98 yard scoring drive that was capped by a 4 yard run by Derriun Thompson with 4:14 left in the first quarter. After the successful PAT Prescott led 7-0.
Harmony Grove scored early in the second quarter on a drive that was kept alive by two long yardage pass plays from Zack Smith to Damion Daniels. Xaylon Falls scored the touchdown at 9:38 to go in the half on a 34 yard run. The 2 point try was not successful leaving the score 7-6.
Coach James Cannon’s squad responded with another score at 7:43 in the second period when Jacob Nolen ran it in from the 1 yard line. The PAT was good. Prescott led 14-6.
The Hornets pulled within 2 points after Jeremie Edwards pulled in a Zach Smith pass taking it 68 yards for the touchdown. The 2 point try was not successful. Prescott led 14-12.
Prescott responded with another long drive that ended with a touchdown when Alex George scored on a 3 yard run with 3:56 to go in the first half. The PAT was good making the score 21-12.
Xaylon Falls took the ensuing kick-off 75 yards for a score that pulled the Hornets to within three points. They were once again unsuccessful on a 2 point try. The score stood 21-18.
The Curly Wolves tacked on 2 more touchdowns before halftime. Both were scored by Nolen. The first was a 6 yard run with 1:39 to go in the half. The second was a 4 yard run with 10.9 seconds to go. Both PAT’s were good. The score stood at 35-18 at intermission.
Harmony Grove gave Prescott a short field to work with after failing to get a first down on their first possession of the second half. The Curly Wolves’ Alex George scored on a 1 yard run at 9:33 in the third quarter. The PAT failed leaving the score 41-18.
The Hornets put together a long drive after this score, but it stalled at the Prescott 2 yard line. At that point Cannon called on Jacaylon Zachery who ran it 98 yards for a touchdown with 5:07 to go in the third. The PAT was good making the score 47-18.
Zach Smith scored for the Hornets with 15.5 seconds to go in the third quarter on a 15 yard run. Another 2 point conversion try failed which left the score 47-24.
Prescott scored twice in the fourth period with Harmony Grove scoring once. Jaylen Hopson scored for the Curly Wolves on a 40 yard run at the 10:39 mark, and Caleb Harris scored on a 24 yard pass play with 3:48 to go in the game. The first PAT failed, but the second was true. Falls would score his third time on the night on an 8 yard run with 8:47 to go in the game. He also converted the 2 point play.
Both teams are now 7-2 over all. The Hornets are 5-1 in conference action. Prescott is 6-0 in the conference. Both teams have one final 5 AAA game to play. Prescott will take on Centerpoint. Harmony Grove will host Smackover in a game to be played Thursday night at Bill Manning Field at 7:00.
